Welcome to my Learning Theories portfolio!  My name is Mary Ellen Coleman, and I am an Enablement Program Designer and Developer at IBM, where I have worked since 1986. I earned my B.S. in Computer Science at RIT and my M.S. in Technical Communication at RPI. My work focuses on helping IBM technical support professionals worldwide learn the skills they need to be successful.  In my spare time, I develop surveys and guide consistent and high-quality content development.

In previous assignments, I created content models, tested software functions, wrote technical documentation for IBM software products, and installed and maintained IBM mainframe systems.  I co-authored an IP publication, A process for Document Level Feedback (DLF) triage and authored two technical publications: Delivering Effective Web-Based Education and Animation: Technical Documents on the Move, published in trade journals and conference proceedings.

I live in Rochester, NY with my husband.  I am a student at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and am an active member of the Cathedral Community Choir, the Rochester Oratorio Society, and the Eastman Rochester Chorus.  I love to travel and have hosted five high school exchange students from Europe who taught me how to be curious, patient, and open minded.

I created this portfolio as a workspace to learn and apply learning theories.
